CASEY ANTHONY IS BROKE...FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY

By: Associated Press January 27, 2013 Tampa, FL- Casey Anthony has filed for bankruptcy in Florida, claiming about $1,100 in assets and $792,000 in liabilities. Court records show that Anthony, who was acquitted of killing her two-year-old daughter in 2011, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on Friday in federal court in Tampa. Her listed debts include $500,000 for attorney fees and costs for her criminal defense lawyer during the trial, Jose Baez; $145,660 for the Orange County Sheriff's office for a judgment covering investigative fees and costs; $68,540 to the Internal Revenue Service for taxes, interest and penalties; and $61,505 to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for court costs. The filing lists her as unemployed. An attorney for Anthony, David Schrader, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Associated Press.

KKK KU KLUX KLAN FLIERS APPEAR IN ATLANTA, GA (SUBURB) ~>

KKK Fliers Appear in Georgia Neighborhood Associated Press Release COVINGTON, Ga. (AP) -- Sheriff's officials are investigating whether any laws were broken when fliers inviting residents to join the Ku Klux Klan were placed outside homes in the Covington area. Newton County sheriff's Deputy Courtney Morrison said the fliers are being reviewed to make sure they don't contain any inappropriate information or threats. The Newton Citizen reports that the fliers included a drawing of a robed klansman standing in front of a tree with writing that said, "Join the KKK -- Loyal White Knights." CBS Atlanta reports that police collected more than 30 of the fliers that were folded and packed into plastic sandwich bags and tossed at the end of driveways. Covington is about 35 miles southeast of Atlanta.

FLORIDA MAN BITES OFF GIRLFRIEND'S THUMB

PALM BAY, Fla. (AP) -- Police in central Florida say a man bit off his girlfriend's left thumb during a fight while he was driving her to work at Taco Bell. Florida Today (http://on.flatoday.com/U5N7SQ ) reports that hospital officials called police after the woman arrived for treatment Wednesday. Palm Bay police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez says 35-year-old Ricardo Marquis Davis confessed to biting off the thumb and spitting it onto the floorboard. He told police she had pushed his head while they were in the car. Martinez says doctors were not able to reattach the woman's thumb. She says police victim advocates are working to help her. Davis is being held in the Brevard County Jail on aggravated battery charges.

Health Officials: [college] School breaks result in breakout of STDs in Leon County

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Leon County Health Department Administrator Homer Rice says he's noticing a pattern in the rates of sexually transmitted diseases in college students. Whenever students from local colleges and universities go home for the holidays, he says they often come back with a souvenir they didn't expect. MAN HANDCUFFS HIMSELF TO CO-WORKER HOPING FOR A DATE [THE #THIRST] >

Hoping for Date, Man Handcuffs Himself to Coworker Associated Press Release RINGGOLD, Ga. (AP) -- A man who handcuffed himself to a female Taco Bell co-worker has been sentenced to serve four years in prison. The Rome News-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/U76lpZ) 25-year-old Jason Earl Dean of Dalton handcuffed himself to the 18-year-old woman in August 2011 in an attempt to convince her to go on a date with him. Lookout Mountain Assistant District Attorney Alan Norton says a Catoosa County Superior Court judge sentence Dean to four years in prison followed by six years on probation. Norton says Dean is also not allowed to have any contact with the victim or her family.

IRS INCREASES SOCIAL SECURITY TAX RATES FOR 2013

Important Notice Regarding 2013 Employee Federal Payroll Tax Changes: (1) Employee Social Security Tax Rate Returns to 6.2%: The reduced 4.2% rate for employee Social Security taxes that was in effect for 2011 and 2012 expired 12/31/12.
